Thought experiment: what if we took other people's intuitions as seriously as our own?

Both thought experiments essentially begin by assuming their own conclusions and using them as evidence. Particularly dumb stuff, a hallmark of mediocre philosophy. The very fact they could reach opposite conclusions with virtually the same experiment shines a bad light on them both.

It's a thought experiment about thought experiments...

It wouldn't prove anything - all you need is some part of a brain that creates a delayed feedback loop and you don't need external senses for self-stimulating thought, and yet there is no soul needed in that scenario.

What initial stimulus primes the loop?

You can get spontaneous self-feedback loops with random perturbations. Look up Boltzmann brains if you really want to see a really extreme endpoint of this thought-experiment

A single thought followed by spontaneous disorganisation. Now we're at, if a tree falls in the forest…

Yes, but the more disturbing point is this: under most premises that are reasonable in the context of physics, if we break experience down as sequences of single thoughts, than statistically a single thought should be more likely to arise from Boltzmann brains than the ones that we know. Or (more likely IMO) we haven't quite figured out the statistics here yet.

The other great lakes are just water on the far side of Canada Island. If you drive north from the Pacific northwest you actually cross directly into Alaska, although a few officials--confused by the Mercator distortion--have put up border signs.

To see the way US news outlets have reported on that new law in Prince Edward Island about passing school buses, you'd get the impression that all of Canada is part of Prince Edward Island.

And let's be honest, it's more like two and a half stars. Proxima is barely a star and barely bound to the system.

Jeez, even the Hollywood Walk of Fame has more stars than that.

That just means that they are The Doctor and you are a minor character in a plot that is about to get very scifi.

As part of my day job I evaluate disaster response exercises at all kinds of facilities, wandering around in a bright red “EVALUATOR” vest. I’ve come to know well the "official looking vest"-as-credential phenomenon, whereby I can basically go wherever I want and people assume I belong there. Many an report has contained the “Security was insufficient during response efforts, as evaluator was able to freely enter area ___” lesson learned.

New Vegas Modded

Did not actually played because tbh, installing all those mods seems a bit daunting but goddamn that looks great. I wish Bethesda didn't fuck up the Fallout license beyond repair.

Couple of games:

SFC - Panel de Pon (Tetris Attack outside Japan which has nothing to do with Tetris but whatev)

Damn the last boss/stage was tough.

Startropics - NES

One of the better NES game imo. Often overlooked.

Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance

I won't be satisfied until we get a standard definition of a pixel relative to inches.

A very reliable source also tells me the liter will be redefined as exactly .5 gallons. Trust me, everything you read on the internet is true.
